Where do we draw the line?
Sometimes we crave for attention, to be known, to be cared for, to be esteemed, to be placed in a position of influence. Yet we do not want the pressures of being put on a pedestal, being afraid of failing others. We want to be able to make a mistake and not bear the consequences of it.

Every action, decision we make bears a consequence small or large. Whether people scrutinize you depends on the type of action made. And whether scrutiny of that particular action is in vogue. But of course people will always look up to other people and the further ups have further to fall... So I say not to get too high up if not your fall might really hurt, but high enough to fall and land on your feet. :D

fix eyes on jesus. cos he exalts and puts down. but if we think we're able to make it on our own... then it's doomed from the start.
but this is just one super-spiritual answer. easy to say, hard to do.
i think you're "not accurate" in assuming that people actually crave fr attention, esteem, etc.. i dunno. id like to think that some don't. they just go about happily doing what they do best and doing it to the best of their ability and somehow or other.. they appear to be overnight successes.
My point being, i think when god finally places you in a real position of "esteem" or "exaltation", by then you'll probably know that it's not you who got yourself up there, but God, and so, you'd be less likely to be proud or take credit for youself, which will dramatically reduce the chances of you falling flat on your face.

anyways, just my two-peso worth of thoughts. :)

Haha.. how come suddenly put like spiritual stuff in one? It may have nothing to do with spiritual stuff at all.. it's about the expectation of others.. like those who want ppl to notice them.. n some of whom want ppl to notice them less..

cos everything's spiritual. We are, after all first a spirit being, and then a human being.. can we actually successfully separate the two? that's like living out of life AND death.. (assuming that what is not life, is death; and what is life is christ.)
about the expectation of others: I say, forget the others. We don't live for them, after all.

well, u r assuming i'm tokking about Christians. If you read my post carefully u'd notice there's nothing about Christianity, or God,.. there are non Christians reading my blog too u know =)
