The opportunity to love...
We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly. - Sam Keen

When we pray and ask God for someone to love and to love us back, He doesn't just give us someone that we love and reciprocates our love.
He provides us with the opportunity to experience what love is -
Usually someone that drives us up the wall so we'll learn to be patient,
gets on our nerves so we'll have to display kindness,
exposes our needs so we'll put away envy,
Someone that shows us what we're good at in comparison to them so we will not boast,
enhances our strengths when we see their weaknesses so we'll have to practice humility,
Someone that makes us want to argue our point so that we'll learn how to discuss and communicate without being rude,
pushes us to a point where we wish we could just think about ourselves and not them, and to subsequently make a choice to put them first.
Someone that does the wrong thing at the wrong time so that we'll not be easily angered,
makes mistakes again and again so that we'll show grace and forgiveness without keeping any record of wrongs,
someone that we face character testing situations with so that we'll choose to shun evil and rejoice in the truth.
Someone that requires our protection when we're in danger ourselves,
Someone that we can learn to build trust with over time by building the blocks of security together,
Someone that we can believe with in a possible God during the impossible,
And someone that makes us step up onto the plate and to keep running, knowing we're in it for the long haul.
Yes, someone that we can experience failure with, so that we have the opportunity to try again - because failure is not falling down, but staying down. Love urges us to lend each other a helping hand because love never fails.
Love was not meant to be a bed of roses, but a lifelong project to mold us to be more like Him.
